This was one of the last scenes from John Wayne’s show, which debuted in 1970. Wayne hosted a variety show honoring American history and featured some of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry as guests.

- 8-10 ears of corn
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Unsalted butter, kosher salt, freshly ground pepper, fresh herbs, or green onion to taste
Preparation:
- Place the corn in the slow cooker and add 1/3 cup water.
- Cook on HIGH for 2 1/2-3 hours, until the corn is “bright yellow and tender.”
- Use tongs to remove the corn, then season with salt, pepper, butter, lemon juice, and herbs.
- “Serve immediately and enjoy!”
